The Eddyville-Blakesburg (Eddyville) junior became the first girl to medal at the Iowa state wrestling tournament with an eighth-place finish at 103 pounds in Class 1-A.
"It's something I've been waiting for a long time," Blake said.
Her journey up the medal stand came to a screeching halt when Black separated her collarbone during her final match Friday night.
"I just kind of rolled over it and I felt a couple of pops," Black said.
The injury forced Black to default her consolation match on Saturday morning.
"Cant' really move my arm too much right now," she said. "That really sucked because I just wanted to finish on a good note."
Earlier in the tournament, Black became the first girl to win a contested match in state tournament history.
She said she had high hopes for the future.
"There's always next year," she said.
