Longtime Indiana coach arrested on public indecency charge

Timothy Wolf faces a misdemeanor public indecency charge after being arrested Sunday.

Timothy Wolf, 65, was arrested about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of Eagle Creek Parkway, East Drive, on the city's northwest side. The car also was occupied by a 17-year-old female, who was not identified.

Martinsville school officials said in a statement Monday that Wolf has retired.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office charged Wolf with one count of public indecency, a Class A misdemeanor which has a penalty of up to one year in prison and up to $5,000 fine upon a conviction.

According to court documents, Wolf was in a silver 2010 Chrysler 300 parked about 30 to 40 feet from a playground when Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Jerald Nuckols saw him.

The fully dressed female was in the car's front passenger seat and could see Wolf with his pants unzipped, exposing himself in the driver's seat, as could the uniformed officer through the front windshield of the car, the court documents said.

The female was not arrested and was taken to her vehicle parked in a parking lot near 71st Street and Woodland Drive, police said.

Ron Furniss, superintendent of Martinsville Schools, issued this statement Monday afternoon after learning of the arrest:

"This afternoon Wolf's attorney, John Boren, notified the school administration that Wolf will retire from the school district effective today, contingent on school board acceptance."

Efforts to reach Wolf were not successful.

Furniss also said that he has authorized an internal investigation and that the school district will cooperate with law enforcement during its investigation.

Wolf, in his 37th year of coaching, has compiled a record of 457-348. He has the 10th most wins among active coaches. He is in his 25th year of coaching at Martinsville, where his record stands at 305-239. Currently, his team is 15-2 overall and 5-0 in the Mid-State Conference. Wolf's teams have won five sectional titles and one regional.
