Recruit whose tweets got him expelled commits to Colorado

The tweets that got cornerback Yuri Wright expelled from Don Bosco (Ramsey, N.J.) were not enough to deter the interest of Colorado.

On Tuesday, the Buffs landed their highest-ranked recruit when Wright announced he would sign with Colorado.

At least one college that was recruiting him, Michigan, backed away last week after Wright's sexually graphic and racially insensitive tweets were publicized.

Wright has made recruiting visits to Colorado, Notre Dame and Rutgers. The first day players can sign a letter-of-intent is Feb. 1.

Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn indirectly addressed the issue of Wright's tweets on Tuesday when he told the Denver Post, "We have communicated clearly to our coaches that every student-athlete enrolling here must meet our academic standards and our standards of character and commitment as a basic condition of being a Buff."

Wright, a 6-2, 180-pound defensive back, was a second team All-USA player for Don Bosco, which finished the season as the No. 1 team in the Super 25 high school football rankings.
