Rosters for McDonald's All American Game announced

By Jim Halley, USA TODAY

This season has been difficult for Anthony Bennett of Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.). While Findlay Prep is 22-1 and No. 2 in the USA TODAY Super 25 boys basketball rankings, Bennett, a 6-7 forward, has had to miss much of the season with a lingering hamstring injury.

He got a little salve Thursday by being one of players named to the McDonald's All American Basketball Game on March 28 in Chicago.

"It is an honor," Bennett said. "It shows I'm going in the right direction as far as being a college player and one day being a pro player. It especially feels good, because my season didn't start out that well."

Bennett is one of three players with Las Vegas area ties on this year's McDonald's boys team. Besides Bennett, forward Brandon Ashley, also of Findlay Prep, and Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) guard Shabazz Muhammad are on the squad.

Three of the 24 boys players have signed with North Carolina State: Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) guard Tyler Lewis, guard Rodney Purvis of Upper Room Christian (Raleigh, N.C.) and forward T.J. Warren of Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.).

The girls squad includes the backcourt of Jordan Adams and Nirra Field from Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) and three players who have signed with Connecticut: Bolingbrook, Ill., center Morgan Tuck; Cicero-North Syracuse (Cicero) center Breanna Stewart and home-schooled guard Moriah Jefferson of Dallas.

The rest of the East boys squad: guard-forward Kyle Anderson of St. Anthony (Jersey City); center DaJuan Coleman of Jamesville-DeWitt (DeWitt, N.Y.); guard Kris Dunn of New London, Conn.; forward Perry Ellis of Wichita Heights (Wichita); forward William Goodwin of Southwest DeKalb (Decatur, Ga.); guard Gary Harris of Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.); forward Amile Jefferson of Friends Central (Philadelphia); forward Tony Parker of Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.); and forward Alex Poythress of Northeast (Clarksville, Tenn.).

The rest of the West boys squad: forward Ike Austin of Grace Prep (Arlington, Texas); guard Kevin Ferrell of Park Tudor (Indianapolis); forward Archie Goodwin of Sylvan Hill (Sherwood, Ark.); forward Grant Jerrett of Lutheran (LaVerne, Calif.); guard Marcus Paige of Linn-Mar (Marion, Iowa); forward Devonta Pollard of Kemper County (DeKalb, Miss.); guard Marcus Smart of Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas); guard Rasheed Sulaimon of Strake Jesuit (Houston).

The rest of the East girls squad: guard Brianna Butler of Nazareth (Brooklyn, N.Y.); guard Kahleah Cooper of Prep Charter (Philadelphia); forward Bashaara Graves of Clarksville, Tenn.; guard Bria Holmes of Hillhouse (New Haven, Conn.); center Malina Howard of Twinsburg, Ohio; guard Niya Johnson of P.K. Yonge (Gainesville, Fla.); guard Michaela Mabrey of Manasquan, N.J.; guard Sierra Moore of Delone Catholic (Sherrystown, Pa.); forward Alexis Prince of Edgewater (Orlando); guard Brittney Sykes of University (Newark); and guard Janee Thompson of Whitney Young (Chicago).

The rest of the West girls squad: center Candice Agee of Silverado (Victorville, Calif.); center Katie Collier of Seattle Christian; guard Alexis Jones of MacArthur (Irving, Texas); guard Jordan Jones of DeSoto, Texas; guard Jewell Loyd of Niles West (Skokie, Ill.); forward Xylina McDaniel of Spring Valley (Columbia, S.C.); center Imani Stafford of Windward (Los Angeles); and center Courtney Williams of North Shore (Houston).
